20 Mule Team Borax Review and Giveaway

Have you heard of Borax? I had heard of it from friends who used it to make homemade laundry detergent, but I had never tried it until recently when I was given a box of 20 Mule Team Borax to review.

I have to say, I am pretty impressed with the flexibility of Borax. There are so many different things that can be done with it from using it as a laundry booster, using it to make your own detergent, pest control, arts and crafts...there is even a large list of ideas for Borax use on the box! Here is a list of a few uses for Borax:
So what is Borax? Also called sodium tetraborate, Borax is a 100% natural mineral produced by the constant evaporations of seasonal lakes. This mineral will be washed, dried and boxed for consumers and has nothing added to it so, in other words, no phosphates, no chlorine and no other additive chemicals. Borax is a multi-purpose household cleaner and works great in the wash because it can soften hard water(water that contains calciumand magnesium ions.) 20 Mule Team Borax maximizes cleaning by preventing the hard water's calcium and magnesium granules from attaching to the detergent, taking it down the drain before your clothes have actually been washed! You may have heard some bad things about Borax in the past, but rest assured, that was when it contained other chemicals. 20 Mule Team Borax is 100% natural and can be used in high efficiency washing machines. Use with Purex detergent to keep stains from sticking back to your clothes! 20 Mule Team Borax comes in a box and you open it like a box of macaroni and cheese. This can get a bit messy and inacurate when pouring, so my suggestion is to store your Borax in a tupperware container to maintain the freshness, keep things neat and for easy measuring. Enter to win $1500 or one of 171 free boxes of Borax (ends February 22, 2013.)

Where to buy

I have found that, since we started using 20 Mule Team Borax, our laundry is much softer, fresher and cleaner. I love it! Because I can't handle all the full chemical detergents to achieve this, I love that Borax is so powerful and gentle to make up for that! I have also spread Borax aroud our attic where we have had a lot of roaches (oh, North Carolina climate) and we have not had any issues since. I plan to put this further to the test as the weather gets warmer and more humid and the bugs start flowing again. Have you ever tried 20 Mule Team Borax? What would you like to use it for?

If you are entering the giveaway, the prize is a coupon so be sure to check the "Where to buy" above to make sure this product is sold in your area.

  1. What would you like to try Borax for? -> I like to try it because as what you have stated in your blog it seems that borax is not for laundry only. I wanted to see if it really works as an all around detergent :)
